D I U e m n s of an a i c g v r i e 1 8 i n r p a c t r i i y t o y n s 5 november 94 "I use pencils" A CHORD IS STRUCK & Uber alles accretions begin. Our body/mind pores clog under the ideological cataphony: Classicism, Romanticism, Capital- ism, Marxism, Anarchism, Surrealism, Dadaism, Existentialism, Personal- ism, Fuzzywuzzyism-- the list is endless. Each "ism" begins as a bright, revolutionary, even visionary assault against the status quo yet each atrophies into an establishment clique perpetuating division, pain & oppression. Why is this? The misguided assumption spine is that the universe is some Darth Vader enemy we must protect & "ism" ourselves against. Emphasizing negativity & mental map making, each "ism" has seperated us from a direct experience with life. Correctionism is radically different from all previous "isms" because it refuses to make mental mummy maps. Hitting the street, the Correction- ist sniffs everywhere, sings everywhere. "Embrace the Universe instead of categorize, defy or bow down to it," says the Correctionist. Nature, ancient Eastern wisdom & contemporary physics agree, is a continuum. Every originality is the result of evolutionary corrections. All life forms tend toward greater unity, complexity & sponteneity or are corrected out of existence. No one individual, creative truth is invin- cible save in that all are essential to the whole. As Wittgenstein said of aesthetic appreciation: "To describe what it consists in, we would have to describe the whole environment." So the leaf corrects the wind as the wind corrects the leaf. "No opposites," says the Correctionist. "Only a fricative interplay of energies." All microcosmic, individual truths dance in the balance of Shiva's macrocosmic giggle. Radical comedy as practiced by Charlie Chaplin & Jacques Vache is a primary Correctionist tool. Such humor explodes the Fibber McGee trances of civilization more surely than bombs. Typified by Whitman, Thoreau & Dickinson, American poetry exploded the categories of European stultification & commerce materialism. Hart Crane later carried this banner against Eliot's Wastelanders. Most recently, the Beats howled against the enemic academics of the 50's. But the establishment co-opted these voices of the wilderness. Money, praise, respectability, egotism, double-talk, but most fundamentally, civilizations fear of the universe tore the teeth from poetry's purifying correctionist wrath. Now Liberal Whaleocracy & Decadent Punkism have pablemized Blake's Marriage of Heaven & Hell into a Hegelian thesis-antithesis-synthesis shell game. What does the Correctionist say to all this? Poetic strength must come from embracing what is (the continuum) instead of opposing it. The Correctionist seeks to unracialize & unsexrolize the harmonal, androgynous seed of our being. Body intuition is the force to center & balance us. Direct body intuition & the fearless speaking of it is the imaginative energy to which poetry, art & politics must return. Flowing from Druidic, primative moon wisdom, a Correctionist poet, artist, musician, shoemaker, secretary or dockworker holds up only one question: "What is Real?" Instead of wasting energy opposing (& thus granting added reality to) the paranoias of civilization, the Correctionist embrace life. We listen to the ocean, the tress, the whales, the dancing rocks-- not to civilization's media mongers. The Correctionist man or woman fuses all concentration into the cosmic, experimentalist, category exploding vision of a questioning child. By doing this, Correctionism is the first poetic life vision since that of the Celtic & Shamanistic bards that short circuits Western Civilization's "ism" syndrome. Having only ears to hear & voices to sing what is right here, right now, we realize life is already more miraculous than any UFO visitors could teach us. --SA [ note: the assemblers of DIU have recently been notifyed that the correct term is *Correctivism* rather than Correctionism ] Subj: Grenier A problem of translation rejecting hazards silence everything the archeology unearthing the original word inaccessible hardly perceptible poses numerous questions the sensation brings down the foundations the extreme points barely there and excluded wandering problems rejected in city and desert absence equally flourishing the form misconstrued and ruptured the language lapsed absent Not a trace of memory differentiated elsewhere precisely an opening some quantities insufficient perceived as presences attributed here to explain discrete repetitions the frequency with which the same are repeated transparently no longer represented must still be known in the body the force of it deferred constrains one to obtain immediately the force of objects on the horizon seen diagrammatically angelic frightened Finest Regards--- H.H. But the new 32,000-square-foot center is already rigged with supercomputers, digital cameras, editing bays and computer systems to keep track of every movie each person buys....Thus, the company has tied together a computer system that could, almost like Orwell's Big Brother, monitor the movies that a person orders and then suggest others with the same actors or themes....This is not a trial. This is a real business....Using their telephone networks, modernized with fiber optics and electronics to allow transmission of digital video programming to television sets, the three Bell companies eventually intend to provide interactive entertainment and information to as many as 46 million businesses and homes....eight million homes by the year 2000. The new center will serve in part as an electronic clearing house..."
